FAQ
Where is the camp located?
Camp Champions
775 Camp Road, Marble Falls, TX 78654
What do you suggest I put on my packing list?
It's gonna be mostly hot and sunny, but temperatures drop in the evenings so dress appropriately. The forecast is 90s during the day and 60s at night. Here are some things we recommend:
- clothes
- swimsuit
- comfortable shoes
- flip flops for showers
- sunglasses
- hat
- sunscreen
- pants and a longsleeve for the evenings
- towel
- toiletries
- bug spray
- tech basics (charger, powerbank)
- earplugs and eyemask for sleeping
- something delightful to share with other attendees
I'm traveling far for this. How will I get to the site?
We'll have shuttles running from the Austin airport (AUS). They will depart to Camp from AUS at 2pm and 6:30pm on Friday the 11th and leave Camp to head to AUS at 11:30am on Monday the 14th.
What are sleeping conditions like?
This is a children's summer camp and as such you'll be on twin XL bunks in shared, rustic rooms. There are hotels in the area as an option for people who don't feel comfortable with the cabins, but we strongly encourage you to sleep on site for the full, shared experience.
What are we doing at Camp?
- Connecting with people from around the world passionate about the movement.
- Diving deep in facilitated small group conversations about network state theory and practice.
- Learning from the field through participant-led conversations and workshops.
- Enjoying fun and games unique to summer camp (Archery! Canoes! Campfire! Cocktails!).
What about network cities, network states, network sovereignties, coordi-nations, network nations, and other adjacent ideas?
We've called this event Network Society Camp because it aims to include all of these ideas. This movement is inherently pluralistic, and a core goal of the event is to bring together people with a wide range of perspectives and approaches. If you are interested in any of these ideas, your perspective will be an important part of the collective sensemaking we will do together.
How do I buy tickets?
Apply using this form and if we think you'd be a good fit, we'll email you a Lu.ma ticket link!
Can I bring my children?
Yes, this event is at a summer camp and will be great for all ages. Kids tickets are free! We are specifically designing it to be family friendly, so please get in touch if you want to bring your family so we can work with you.
Will my dietary restrictions be accommodated?
We will have options for gluten free, lactose free, and vegetarian/vegan diets. If you have any allergies or other restrictions, please reach out to us and we'll see what we can do.
Why
Every movement begins with a group of people aligned around a shared vision of something better—to cohere around relationships and values before tech platforms and economic models. The network before the state.
This event is calling together an intimate, curated group of leaders that represent a diverse array of perspectives for three days of facilitated workshops, unconference-style talks, and the magic that comes from late-night fireside conversations.
Network Society Camp will be taking place at a classic American summer camp to shake up the conference-as-usual vibes and remind us that work and play enhance each other.
What
Network Society Camp will take place from October 11-14 near Austin, Texas, USA.
The venue is 90 minutes outside of Austin, and we will have shuttles running to and from AUS airport for attendees. We will provide housing, meals, and activities so you can focus on making new connections and deepening old ones. Tickets to TNS Camp are $700, which is all-inclusive onsite (covers attendance, lodging, food, drinks, and buses for the whole event). We offer discounts and scholarships to those who need them.
Interested in deepening relationships with fellow network builders—both fans and skeptics of network societies? We're curating participants via a mix of public applications and direct invites. This event will be an intimate gathering with a curated set of attendees. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, with a registration cutoff of September 27th.
